Warm Caring Thoughts During Hard Times

A long time Haitian national and friend of Hotfutbol who lives in Haiti shared her recent thoughts with me during a phone conversation. I asked her to write them down so they could be shared. Here they are below:

I have not had the opportunity to return to the field in spite of my desire to do so, due to all security issues related to the political situation in Haiti which has been persisting for about a year but more over September to November 2019, but yet always wanted to visit and watch the kids training.

So, last week I decided to give Ricardo a call and promised to come visit soon, this been said and knowing how this country unpredictable situation can be, I passed by to say hello the very next day. And honestly, I was so pleased to see that in spite of everything that had been going on within the past months, where at times we could not even leave our house, not knowing if we would encounter a burning street barricade around the corner, rocks thrown at the car or even shot at, your program Hot Football was still in action. As I was speaking to Ricardo kids would walk in little by little getting ready for training, that feeling was amazing.

What I mean by all this is that For a Haitian person, who sees her country decaying every day, where so many people are badly intentioned included those organizations whose sole purpose would be to help the community rise, for many are as corrupted as the government. It was with such pleasure when I heard Ricardo tell me that regardless the circumstances, the program was able to kick back again.

Standing on your premises at Park Izmery and seeing those kids walk in that sense of belonging, made my day, amongst  days where I have recently been wondering to myself whether It still made sense to stay and live in Haiti, well, this scene sure gave me hope right there!!!!!

So I say thank you for your great work, influence and care for this country’s kids as those are the actions that inspire me.
